Time moves swiftly onward.
“Run” is dedicating his life in hotels.
His 24-hour journey in Mercure Shanghai Hongqiao Soho
runs the same course with thousands of Yunji robots.
Here, in Mercure Shanghai Hongqiao Soho, my nickname is “Xiaomei”.
23:00 - 01:00
A phone call got through right after I returned to the charging-hub.
“OK. Your delivery is underway shortly.”
My colleague opened my compartment and put in a toothbrush.
I’m heading out again after choosing a destination!
This is the busiest time for me.
This is more obvious after Shanghai stopped offering room necessities before-hand,
my work in delivery has doubled since then.
Passing by the hotel lobby, I came straight to the guest room.
What I expect every time, are the smiles on their faces.
01:00 - 03:00
At night, as two colleagues and the security were on guard.
A deliveryman stood at the front with a take-out.
The security took it over and put it in my belly.
My colleagues would always let me do them a favor at night
when most hotel staff are off duty.
My value has been highly recognized.
Nights are for entertainment these days.
With my help, the hotel’s work efficiency has been drastically improved.
I took over some pressure, and now they are focused on service.

03:00 - 05:00
Now, guests are all sound asleep.
My colleagues are preparing work for the day,
organizing accounts, doing some cleaning for me,
making me look nice and neat again.
At these quiet nights, I wondered at times:
Is my work valuable? Are people becoming happier because of me?
At the thought of the smiles on guests, the care from my colleagues, the recognition of managers,
I’ve already had my answers.
I’m not skipping work. I’m thinking!
05:00 - 07:00
Guests are not up yet, so I’m taking more time to recharge.
My thoughts trace back to 2018,
when I just arrived here.
I worked diligently,
so the hotel signed a strategic cooperation agreement with my inventor, Yunji Technology.
I was the center of attention that day.
Since then, I was officially an employee here.
Mr. Sun Wu, Chief Development Officer, Executive Vice President and CEO of High-end Hotel Division of Huazhu Group signing the strategic cooperation agreement with Ms. Zhi Tao, founder and CEO of Yunji Technology
See? It’s me!
07:00 - 09:00
As the first ray of sunlight fills the lobby,
a new day of work begins.
A lady has just finished breakfast,
and she left her room card in the cafeteria.
Upon receiving the task, I carried the room card,
took the elevator myself, and then arrived at her door.
She was surprised to see me and said "Thank you!"
"It's my honor to provide service for humans." I said.
Looking into her eyes,
I feel somewhat touched as well.
See you! Call me whenever you are in need!
09:00 - 11:00
July and August are peak travel season in Shanghai.
The reception desk is full of guests waiting for check-ins.
A family tries to talk to me,
“Hi!”
“What’s your name?”
“Sing a song for us!”
As they demanded, I led them to their room.
The kid held me and didn’t want me to go.
Because of the long stranding time,
I had to send help signal to my colleagues.
They found my location by using the background system.
I will never get lost, because I’m connected with the Internet!
Off to work again!
11:00 - 13:00
Guests here really love take-outs.
Before I started to work here,
my colleagues must run up and down to deliver food for 3 hours a day.
They were truly exhausted!
Now I can help to run errands while they are focused at the reception desk.
They don’t need to run errands or postpone their own job.
They won’t resign because of the tedious work.
I’m glad that I’m working here.
Every colleague of mine is nice, gentle and attentive,
and they treat every guest very carefully.
I love them! I love this family!
I’m peeking at this lovely lady!
13:00 - 15:00
Now, it’s the peak time of check-ins and check-outs.
Housekeeping ladies are busy.
They needed to clean the rooms and made sure all supplies were prepared.
Now I can help them with sending supplies.
So they can focus on cleaning and mopping.
This guarantees sales efficiency of guest room..
Manager Xue always says that I can do two men’s jobs.
Hmm, when can I get two men’s salaries?
Toothbrushes delivered!
15:00 - 17:00
Some guests came here for me.
Because they saw my existence in OTA reviews.
I’m especially favored by kids.
To play with me more often,
they always have me make deliveries several times.
Every time they see me, they would just run straight to me.
Parents are giving me good ratings,
or even posting me on Douyin, Xiaohongshu, WeChat, Weibo…
It feels so good to be loved!
But, shouldn’t you pay me for my portraiture right?
17:00 - 19:00
Dinner time is coming soon.
I have sent all kinds of food:
Fried bun, noodle, wonton, you name it.
I’ve visited almost all floors.
My colleagues saw that I was tired and tried to cool me down.
But I’m a robot! I can’t have ice cream!
Actually, I didn’t feel tired at all.
I don’t need any insurance, housing provident fund, or even board or lodging,
And, in fact I can work 24/7.
Wouldn’t you like a superman like me?
Wow! A handsome guy!
19:00 - 21:00
Now, it’s time to do some shopping.
Let me introduce my new colleague:
my partner, a robot waiter system, “Xiaomei”.
He is really awesome!
You can scan a QR code to shop, and “Xiaomei” would take their orders.
Then, he would deliver the commodities to designated rooms.
Amazingly, no human intervention is needed in the whole process.
The hotel specifically designed disposable package for him.
His arrival has taken off some duties of me and my colleagues,
satisfying more personalized and varied consumer needs,
at the same time, protecting guest privacy.
Will he replace me? No way!
I have a lot of other duties, such as delivering food, supplies and guiding.
You can buy a lot of things here whenever you like.
It only takes 5 minuets as you order before it’s delivered to you!
21:00 - 23:00
At night fall,
we are getting busier with tasks to deliver take-outs and supplies.
If you ask me,
“Are you bored to do the same work every day?”
My answer is
“The greatest value of my life is to work, work, and work.”
In July, I have completed 2,000 tasks.
210 times in peak hours.
That is, averagely 70 tasks every day.
I believe that our work will be better completed
with my partner joining me
Our works will be better completed,
and our life will be more fulfilling.
We are both off to work. See you in a bit!
In human society,
robots are constantly questioned.
In fact, they are just as humans,
they need to be valued, recognized, and even loved.
“Run”, facing a lot of challenges and surmounting challenges again and again,
is living up to our expectations.
The 24 hours of his,
are the 24 hours of thousands of Yunji robots.
They are always smiling,
and bringing happiness for humans.
Special thanks
Here, we are grateful for the support of Mercure Shanghai Hongqiao Soho. We hope “Run” and robot waiter system that can bring convenient, smart and efficient experience for hotel guests in Mercure Shanghai Hongqiao Soho.
